How to create a custom map with Google Maps

Today, we are used to looking things up using digital maps (remember the days we used to get around with paper maps?!). Interactive maps are one of the best interactive mediums to showcase your network of locations. Google Maps is still by far the leading digital map but it doesn't look so professional to just have a basic looking Google Maps on your website. So how can you create a custom version of Google Maps for your website? One that is tailored to your unique dataset and blends in perfectly with the rest of your website.

Your business is unique and so is your product and services offering, so you want to create a custom Google Maps that highlight your locations with custom information and call-to-actions. It will help your customers find what they are after quicker and more directly. But creating a nice looking interactive map that will blend in with the rest of your website and branding can be can be very complicated and expensive, especially if you want custom filters and call-to-action buttons to guide your visitors.

With No Code Map App, you can create your own custom Google Maps that shows exactly what you want to show based on your own dataset in 3 simple steps.

  1. Choose a map template for your use-case.

  2. Import your dataset (spreadsheets, csv, Google Sheets, Airtable or Webflow CMS).

  3. Customise it to your preferred style, layout, map filters and call-to-actions.

Step 1: Pick a template for your use-case

We can created a library of ready-to-use templates so you can get your map going right away. When in doubt, you can always use our General Template which can handle all kinds of dataset (address, text, URL, number, dates, audio files, image files, email - absolutely anything).

Step 2: Import your data

Now you can choose a method to import your data. You can do a simple copy and paste or connect your Google Sheets / Airtable / Webflow CSM for a more dynamic experience.

If you are unsure about how to set up your data, we have a sample dataset included for each template. Of course you don't need to follow it. As mentioned above, our map builder is so intelligent you can include any kind of data in your dataset, even links to third party tools like online forms, Stripe payment links, PayPal payment links, Calendly etc.

Upon importing, we will show all of your data columns and for each map you can choose up to 15 columns of data. After that, our builder will magically convert your data into an interactive map, instantly!

No Code Map App is the only custom map maker that auto-generates customisable map filters and call-to-actions based on your dataset. Typically these are only seen on custom-built interactive maps. Now you can have them too!

Step 3: Customise your map

Once your data has been connect, now the fun part starts! You can customise your map to your preferred marker, color, font, zoom level, and search bar setting etc. More importantly and uniquely to us is you can customise your data display, map filters and call-to-action buttons.

With customised map filters and call-to-action buttons, it will significantly improve your user engagement and take it beyond just a custom version of Google Maps.

With the right map filter and call-to-action buttons, you can link your interactive map with your other business tools (like Google Form, Stripe, PayPal, Calendly), and turn your interactive map into a lead or revenue generator with buttons like:

  • Buy or pay

  • Subscribe

  • Contact

  • Fill in a form

You can connect pretty much any internal or external site/tool to your custom call-to-action button!

Give it a try!
